Bráz Elettrica Pizzeria in São Paulo, Brazil, by Ricardo Gusmão Arquitetos

With large windows and an open terrace, the restaurant was redesigned and gained a new architectural project inspired by Van Gogh's "Café Terrace at Night"

The Bráz Elettrica Pizzeria, located on Rua dos Pinheiros in São Paulo, Brazil, has undergone renovation and remodeling. The restaurant has abandoned its self-service system and adopted table service, without losing the brand's youthful atmosphere.

The project, designed by Ricardo Gusmão Arquitetos, was conceived to adapt to this new proposal. The space gained more tables and seats, a bar on the ground floor, and a new layout for the kitchen and oven, which were moved to the upper floor. This change allowed for large windows to open onto the street, creating a visual connection between customers, pizza makers and the street.

During the photo shoot, architect Ricardo Gusmão showed me an image that guided the development of the project: the painting "The Café Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, at Night" by Vincent Van Gogh. We tried to interpret it as a photograph, with the vivacity and luminosity of the terrace contrasting with the blue of the night—bucolic in Arles, chaotic in São Paulo.

A Pizzaria Bráz Elettrica, na Rua dos Pinheiros, em São Paulo, passou por uma reforma e reformulação. A unidade deixou para trás o sistema de autoatendimento e adotou o serviço de mesa, sem perder a atmosfera jovial da marca.

O projeto, assinado pelo escritório Ricardo Gusmão Arquitetos, foi pensado para se adequar a essa nova proposta. O espaço ganhou mais mesas e lugares, um bar no térreo e uma nova configuração para a cozinha e o forno, que foram transferidos para o andar superior. Essa mudança permitiu a abertura de grandes janelas para a rua, criando uma conexão visual entre clientes, pizzaiolos e o movimento externo.

Durante o ensaio fotográfico, o arquiteto Ricardo Gusmão me mostrou uma imagem que norteou o desenvolvimento do projeto: a pintura O Terraço do Café na Place du Forum, Arles, à Noite de Vincent Van Gogh. Buscamos interpretá-la como fotografia, com a vivacidade e luminosidade do terraço contrastando com o azul da noite —bucólica em Arles, caótica em São Paulo.
